Senior ticket

Senior tickets are tickets for passengers with a certain minimum age , which is usually between 60 and 65 years , depending on the transport association offering, offered in public and long-distance transport at a favorable special rate . In some countries there are additional discounts for people aged 70 and over.

Examples of senior citizens' tickets in Germany

The German railway offers guests over 60 years reduced BahnCard 25 for seniors in two versions (2nd class 36,90 Euro, 1st class 72,90 euros). A reduced BahnCard 50 for seniors is also available (2nd class 114 euros, 1st class 226 euros).

Bad Wiessee

From 2020, seniors aged 65 and over living in Bad Wiessee will be able to travel free of charge in the "Oberland" tariff zone of the Upper Bavaria regional traffic. For this purpose, a corresponding "Silver Ager Card" is issued.

Berlin and Brandenburg

The Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (VBB), which includes around 40 other transport companies in the state of Brandenburg in addition to the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) , offers a senior citizens ticket VBB-Abo 65plus , which can be purchased by people aged 65 and over. It is only available with an annual subscription (which can be canceled at any time) and currently (2019) costs 51 euros per month for monthly payments and 593 euros per year for one-off payments. In the cities of Brandenburg / Havel , Cottbus and Frankfurt / Oder , seniors aged 65 and over can use local transport for one year at a price of 340 euros with the "VBB-Abo 65vorOrt".

Bielefeld

Chemnitz
