Sex Tape is an American comedy film from the year 2014 . After Bad Teacher , Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz play lovers again in a film by Jake Kasdan . The film opened in German cinemas on September 11, 2014.

Since Jay and Annie were married and have children, their sex life has been on the back burner. When they finally have an evening to themselves, they want to get things going again and film themselves in a three-hour sex marathon. Jay leaves the video on his iPad so it is accidentally uploaded to the cloud, which can be accessed by friends, family and the postman. Jay found out about this the next day through a message from an unknown broadcaster, in which someone thanked him for the shared video. After Annie also finds out about it, they look for each other's tablets to delete the video everywhere.

After the tablets of the mother, son and friends Robbie and Tess have been processed, Jay and Annie drive to Annie's new boss Rosenbaum, who also has access to the cloud. While Jay is looking for his pad, Annie distracts Rosenbaum by persuading her to coke . After some turbulence, this pad can also be secured. Jay can remotely reset the postman's tablet.

Jay learns that Robbie and Tess' son Howard owns a copy of the video and is now blackmailing Jay for $ 25,000. Howard has already uploaded the video to Youporn . Jay and Annie drive with their children to Youporn headquarters in the middle of the night and want to manipulate the servers . They are surprised by the manager. He agrees to delete the video from the server as there are enough other videos available.

The next day, at a school event, a video that Jay's son has prepared on his laptop for the end of the year is to be shown. Jay hasn't deleted the sex tape from there, however, and the son isn't sure which is the correct video. Jay sees himself forced to jump from the upper auditorium onto the technical table to prevent the wrong video from being shown inadvertently. At the end, Annie and Jay watch the last existing copy of their video and then destroy it to avoid further embarrassment.

In order to get filming permissions at desired locations, the film project was given the bland title “Basic Math”, since searching for a location under the title “Sex Tape” would have been difficult.

Sex Tape scores 36/100 at Metacritic , based on 36 reviews. At Rotten Tomatoes , only 18% of the reviews were positive. The average rating is 4.1 / 10 based on 136 reviews.

Filmdienst criticizes the fact that the material "is not prepared as a drama or as a loss of social reputation, but is an occasion for a casual comedy". In doing so, "the episodic rippling film in silly punchlines and harmless moments without any courage to be biting" pleases itself.

Awards

The film and its actors were nominated in three categories in the 2015 Golden Raspberry election, Cameron Diaz received the Golden Raspberry for Worst Actress for her achievements in Sex Tape and Die Schadenfreundinnen . The other two nominations were for the worst screen couple (Diaz and Segel) and worst screenplay categories .
