Simon Illmer (born January 24, 1954 in Pfarrwerfen ) is an Austrian farmer and politician ( ÖVP ). Illmer was a member of the Salzburg state parliament from 1994 to 2013 and the first president of the Salzburg state parliament from April 22, 2009.

Life

After completing elementary and secondary school, Illmer attended the agricultural college in Klessheim (Salzburg) and subsequently took over his parents' agriculture (Mitterdielbauer). In addition to his work as a farmer, Illmer is also a state-certified ski instructor and ski guide. Illmer is chairman of the Pongau waste management association. In 2005 he was awarded the professional title of Economics Council.

Illmer was involved in the rural youth and was active in the Young People's Party . In 1984 he was elected mayor of Pfarrwerfen, in 1994 he was sworn in as a member of the Salzburg state parliament. Illmer is the spokesman for the ÖVP state parliament club for waste management, forestry, alternative energy and agriculture. On May 28, 2008 he was elected Third President of the State Parliament.

After the state elections on March 1, 2009, the Salzburg People's Party and the SPÖ agreed to provide the first state parliament president, although it was only entitled to the second. Hans Scharffetter should take over this office. However, he was seriously injured the day before the inauguration, so that Illmer temporarily took over the office until Scharfetter was fully recovered.

Illmer is the father of three daughters.
