St. Antonius (Grebben)
The Catholic Chapel of St. Antonius is located in the Grebben district of the city of Heinsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The chapel is in Grebben on the corner of Grebbener Strasse and Karl-Diem-Strasse.
history
The residents of Grebben had wanted to build their own chapel since 1910. With the founding of the chapel building association in 1929, the plan was put into practice. The municipality of Oberbruch supported the erection of a memorial for the deceased and missing of the First World War with a donation of 1000 DM . Numerous donations and a lot of personal contribution drove the project forward. On September 2, 1934, the foundation stone was laid .
The chapel building association made several purchases over the years.
- In 1955 a wooden ceiling was built into the chapel at a cost of DM 2,500
- 1956 New windows were installed, costs 1,000 DM
- 1957 erection of a memorial plaque , costs 600 DM
- 1958 Acquisition of a monstrance , costs 480 DM
- 1968 Acquisition of a harmonium , costs 580 DM
- 1972 Establishment of a communion bank , costs 1,250 DM
- 1982 A repair on the chapel tower, cost 1,850 DM
On April 13, 1992, the chapel was damaged in an earthquake . Several cracks in the walls and a subsidence in the building fabric were the result. In 1994 the roof turret was fitted with a new bell . In 2005 the chapel was renovated .
architecture
The chapel is a brick building with a gable roof . On the roof there is a four-sided ridge turret with a bell and a weathercock . The windows are circular.
Furnishing
- The church has stained glass .
- In the church there is an altar , a crucifix and several figures of saints .
