The sports club Tasmania Berlin e. V. , or SV Tasmania Berlin for short, or simply Tasmania Berlin , is a sports club from the Berlin district of Neukölln in the district of the same name . The association was founded on February 3, 1973 as Tasmania Neukölln and is considered the unofficial successor association of the historic Tasmania Berlin , which was dissolved in the same year. From 2000 to 2011 the club was called Tasmania Gropiusstadt , before it took on the name of its predecessor for the 2011/12 season. The first football team has played in the fifth-class Oberliga Nordost since its promotion in 2019 . In addition to the soccer department, there is also a bowling department .

Tasmania Neukölln (1973 to 2000)

The club was founded by parents of youth players from Tasmania Berlin , which had to declare bankruptcy in July 1973 and was dissolved. The new club had to start over in the lowest division, the seventh-class C-class. Thanks to a successful youth work, the Tasmania reached the national league through four promotions in five years. There it took the Neuköllner three years before they were promoted to the then third-class Oberliga Berlin . Along with the rise, the club moved from the Neukölln stadium to the Katzbachstadion in Kreuzberg .
Initially, Tasmania played against relegation. The low point was an 8-0 defeat at Traber FC Mariendorf in the 1983/84 season . In 1986, the club returned to the newly opened Sportpark Neukölln and celebrated the biggest success in the club's history with third place under the coach Michael Sziedat , once a Bundesliga player at Hertha BSC . As the bottom of the table in the 1990/91 season , the team missed the Oberliga Nordost . Three years later, he was even relegated to the state league.
In the mid-1990s, the association experienced a new boom thanks to the financial support of the real estate agent and art dealer Horst-Dieter Laurisch. After two rises in a row Tasmania reached the Oberliga Nordost in 1997. Under coach Thomas Remark , the team reached sixth place in the 1997/98 season . Due to reduced donations from sponsors, he was relegated to the bottom of the table in the following season . In the 1999/2000 season Tasmania was passed through to the national league.
Tasmania Gropiusstadt (2000 to 2011)

At the same time, a housing association from the Neukölln district of Gropiusstadt got involved with Tasmania, which from December 2000 was called Tasmania Gropiusstadt . In 2002 Tasmania returned to the Association League Berlin and was immediately runner-up with nine points behind SV Yeşilyurt Berlin . Another runner-up was won in 2004, this time 16 points behind BFC Dynamo . Two years later it was only enough for the runner-up championship for the third time after being promoted again. This time the Tasmania missed the championship only because of the poor goal difference against Lichterfelder FC . The Neukölln team won the direct encounter between the two opponents 5: 1.
Also in the 2006/07 season it was only enough to finish second, this time ten points behind Spandauer SV . A year later, the team was relegated and was passed through to the district league in the following national league season. As runner-up in the 3rd division, he was able to gain direct promotion in the district league. At that time, the A-Jugend achieved greater successes than the first team. In 2003 they were one of the founding members of the U-19 Bundesliga and belonged to this class until 2007 and to the Regionalliga Nordost until 2010 . In the 2005/06 season Tasmania took part in the DFB Junior Club Cup and was eliminated in the round of 16 against FC Carl Zeiss Jena .
Tasmania Berlin (since 2011)
In the very first season under the current name, the championship in the 1st division of the regional league and promotion to the Berlin league succeeded. Tasmania benefited from the 2-2 draw of rivals SC Charlottenburg in the second team of BFC Dynamo. In 2014 the team reached the final of the Berlin Cup , but lost it 1: 2 against FC Viktoria Berlin . In the championship, Tasmania played for promotion for a long time, but missed it on the penultimate match day with a 1: 2 defeat against bottom of the table TuS Makkabi Berlin .
A year later, Tasmania reached the association cup final again and was defeated by the BFC Dynamo just 0: 1. In the league, the team played again for the championship. The highlight of the season was the top game at Tennis Borussia Berlin in front of almost 2,000 spectators, which was lost 2-0. This game was broadcast worldwide for the first time in the Berlin League via live stream over the Internet. At the end of the 2014/15 season, Tasmania was third and missed promotion due to the poorer goal difference compared to CFC Hertha 06 .
In the 2018/19 season , Tasmania fought a long neck and neck race with SV Sparta Lichtenberg . On the penultimate matchday, Tasmania secured the championship and thus promotion to the Oberliga Nordost with Lichtenberg's 4-0 defeat at Türkiyemspor Berlin .

Venues
After its founding in 1973, SV Tasmania first played in the Neukölln stadium , where its predecessor SC Tasmania was already at home. After being promoted to the Berlin Oberliga in 1981, Tasmania temporarily moved to the Katzbachstadion in the Kreuzberg district . Five years later, the club returned to Neukölln and moved into the Werner-Seelenbinder-Sportpark . There are two natural turf and two artificial turf pitches available to the club.
