Turkana County (until 2010 Turkana District ) is a county in northwestern Kenya . The capital of the county is Lodwar . The county borders Uganda , South Sudan, and Ethiopia and the western shore of Lake Turkana . From a Kenyan perspective, the Ilemi Triangle in the far north belongs to the county (Lokichoggio and Lokitaung divisions). Turkana is the largest county in Kenya in terms of area. Only 1.5% of households are connected to the electricity supply. 70% of the population live as nomads .

The county is divided into councils and divisions. There are three constituencies: Turkana North, Turkana Central and Turkana South.

Turkana County is part of the Lodwar Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church . Of the 450,000 inhabitants, just under 106,000 are of the Catholic faith.
