U-23 soccer Asian Cup 2020 / qualification

The qualification for the U-23 soccer Asian Cup 2020 took place from March 22nd to 26th, 2019. 44 of the 47 member associations of the AFC took part. The hosts of the finals, Thailand , also took part in qualifying but were automatically qualified for the finals. The remaining teams had to qualify in the preliminary round.

mode

Of the 47 member associations of the AFC , 44 registered to participate. At the draw, the teams were divided according to their geographical location into the western region, consisting of West , Central and South Asia , and the eastern region, consisting of Southeast and East Asia . The western region consisted of six groups with four teams each and the eastern region of five groups with four teams each.

The games were played as mini-tournaments from March 22nd to March 26th, 2019, with one of the participants hosting a group. Each team played once against each other in their group. The eleven group winners and the four best runners-up qualified for the finals. The hosts from Thailand also took part in qualifying, but were automatically seeded for the finals.
