history
In 1253 the place was mentioned in a document in which the Heilsbronn Monastery exchanged with the Commandery of the Teutonic Knight Order in Oettingen.
The place was in the Fraisch district of the Ansbach Oberamt Wassertrüdingen . The imperial city of Dinkelsbühl wanted to assert them on their estates. The village and township government had the box office Wassertrüdingen held. At the end of the 18th century there were 40 properties in Untermichelbach. Were landlords
- ansbachische offices (19 estate; pin stewardship Feuchtwangen : 1 Gütlein; Box Office Wassertruedingen : 1 forging, 1 yard, freight 8, 3 Gütlein, 2 Häuslein; Vogt Official Wittelshofen : 1 Sölde , 2/2 Sölden)
- the Duchy of Württemberg (13 properties; Oberamt Weiltingen : 1 half yard, 8 Sölden estates, 1 Sölden estate, 1 Sölden house, 2 half Sölden houses)
- the imperial city of Dinkelsbühl (7 properties; rear room care: 1 property; council office maintenance: 3 goods; hospital: 3 goods)

There was also a church, a rectory, a schoolhouse, and a community shepherd and a community sheep house. From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Wassertrüdingen .
In 1806 Untermichelbach came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As a result of the municipal edict , the place was assigned to the Wittelshofen tax district formed in 1809 . At the same time the rural community of Untermichelbach was formed, to which the places Gelshofen , Gelsmühle , Neumühle and Obermichelbach belonged. The community was renamed after Obermichelbach in 1813. With the second community edict (1818), the community was given its original name again after Obermichelbach left.
The municipality of Untermichelbach had an area of 4.812 km². It was subordinate to the Dinkelsbühl regional court in terms of administration and jurisdiction and to the Dinkelsbühl tax office ( renamed Dinkelsbühl tax office in 1919 , Ansbach tax office since 1973 ). The jurisdiction remained with the District Court of Dinkelsbühl until 1879, from 1879 to 1973 the District Court of Dinkelsbühl was responsible, which has been a branch of the District Court of Ansbach since 1973 . The administration was taken over by the newly created Dinkelsbühl district office in 1862 (renamed the Dinkelsbühl district in 1938 ). With the dissolution of the Dinkelsbühl district in 1972, Untermichelbach came to the Ansbach district.
As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , Untermichelbach was incorporated into Wittelshofen on July 1, 1972.
