Whales (rapper)
Wale Folarin (pronounced Wah-läi ; born September 21, 1984 in Washington, DC as Olubowale Victor Akintimehin ) is an American rapper who gained notoriety in the blogosphere through a series of mixtape publications . He is regarded as a representative of a new generation of rappers, including Kid Cudi , Charles Hamilton , Asher Roth and BoB , among others .
Musical career
Wale grew up as the son of Nigerian immigrants in Washington DC, which significantly influenced his musical style; many of his songs are based on the rhythmic go-go style that shaped the city. With the song Dig Dug (Shake It) he achieved first notoriety in 2006 in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia .
In 2007 Wale went on tour with DJ and producer Mark Ronson . This then took him to his label Allido Records, which is now part of Interscope Records , under contract. At the time he was due to massive Internet - PR ( MySpace , blogs already status) Stars held; Newspapers and magazines such as The New York Times , The Washington Post , The Boston Globe and Rolling Stone reported on whales, and fashion labels such as Nike and LRG sponsored him. At the MTV Video Music Awards in 2007 , he rapped the song WHALES DANCE , which on the single DANCE by Justice based. He also shot a video for the song. In 2008 he could be heard on the song Rising Up from the album Rising Down der Roots and on several remixes .
Wale released his first album after several postponements on November 13, 2009. He recorded the first single Chillin ' with Lady Gaga . Other guests include Bun B , Pharrell and K'naan ; The album was produced by Mark Ronson, The Neptunes and Cool & Dre, among others . Attention Deficit was rated mostly positive, but was criticized at the hip-hop mainstream anlehnende conformism .
