Wildings was a village in Lower Austria, which is now in a state of disrepair in the area of the Allentsteig military training area in the area of the municipality of Zwettl . The place is mentioned as Wildungs , a settlement of a man with the name Wildung , as early as 1344, when it was given to the Zwettl monastery for the erection of an altar. Wildings, built around a triangular meadow, belonged to the parish of Groß-Globnitz until it was resettled . In 1822 it consisted of 14 houses and in 1868 had 101 inhabitants. On July 20, 1863, thirteen of the then 16 houses in the village as well as outbuildings and barns burned down in a great fire; 26 cattle, 25 pigs, 32 sheep and one horse perished. In 1938, when the place comprised 21 houses, it was forcibly evacuated in order to build a firing range. The place name lives on today only in the name for the shooting range.

The chapel dates from the previous century (1867) and was a brick building with gable turrets, the long sides of which each had two arched windows. "In 1984 the location of the Wildings Chapel was still clearly identifiable, two lime trees in front of the entrance, no remains of the wall visible, but earth bulges on the apse side."
