Annatsberg is a village in the Waldviertel in Lower Austria and a locality and cadastral municipality of the municipality of Zwettl-Niederösterreich in the Zwettl district .

geography

Annatsberg is located about 12 km southwest of the town of Zwettl, west of Königswiesener Straße (B 124) and along the state road  8269. According to the 2001 census, the place had 94 inhabitants on an area of ​​2.67 km².

The cadastral community has a moderately dense network of local roads and dirt roads . It is connected to the Austrian intercity bus network by the Postbus on the B 124 . The municipality borders to the north and northeast to the cadastral municipality of Marbach am Walde, to the east to Dietharts, to the south to Rappottenstein and to the west to Oberrabenthan.

The development is a mixture of mostly renovated old farms with the associated farm buildings, numerous new residential buildings and small businesses. The municipality is characterized by a gently undulating cultural landscape with small, interspersed forest areas and flat hollow valleys . In agriculture, the small-scale cultivation of grain and potatoes is predominant.

  • Annatsberg was first mentioned in a document in 1244 under the name Arnolltsperg . The name means something like: "by the mountain that is named after a man by the name of Arnold".
  • Annatsberg has belonged to the city of Zwettl since the municipal merger in 1970. Before that it was part of the former municipality of Marbach am Walde .

On June 1, 2010 Herbert Ottendorfer jun. appointed mayor , before that Karl Berger had been in office from 1995.

Culture and sights

The local chapel of Annatsberg, consecrated to St. Hippolytus , was completely renovated in 2002 by the Marbach am Walde village renewal and beautification association and is a listed building .
