Eschabruck is a village in the Waldviertel in Lower Austria and a locality and cadastral municipality of the municipality of Zwettl-Niederösterreich in the Zwettl district .

geography

Eschabruck is about eight kilometers as the crow flies southeast of the city center of Zwettl. According to the 2001 census, the place had 118 inhabitants on an area of ​​5.47 km².

Eschabruck is connected to the Austrian intercity bus network by the Postbus in the local area .

The municipality borders in the north on the cadastral community Friedersbach , in the west on Wolfsberg , southwest on Niederwaltenreith (community Waldhausen ), south on Niedernondorf (community Waldhausen) and Rohrenreith ( community Großgöttfritz ) and in the west on Kleinschönau .

history

  • Eschabruck was first mentioned in 1295 as Essenprukke . The name means something like: "at the bridge that is made of ash wood" or "bridge over the Escha / Eschenbach" (Eschagrabenbach is the name of the local creek)
  • In 1968 the places Friedersbach, Eschabruck and Kleinschönau merged to form the Friedersbach community, which in 1970 voluntarily joined the town of Zwettl.
