This is a collection of scientific, state-wide public opinion polls that have been conducted relating to the Democratic presidential primaries, 2008. The public is generally sampled by land-line telephone only, sometimes asking about only the leading candidates.
Graphical representations of polling
For the 2008 Democratic National Convention, there will be 3,515 pledged delegates which will be selected by primary voters and caucus participants (which may be "predicted" by polling results). While most states use a proportionate system subject to a 15% threshold, others use a caucus system that may lead to a "winner takes all" result. Therefore, both types of graphical representations of polling are presented below. There will also be 852 unpledged delegates, colloquially known as superdelegates, which are DNC members, Democratic members of Congress and Governors, and other important figures in the party, which cannot be accurately "predicted" by polling, but may be "predicted" by regularly monitoring endorsements.

NOTE: There is no polling data for 868 delegates (from Alaska, North Dakota, Louisiana, Nebraska, District of Columbia, Hawaii, American Somoa, Democrats Abroad, Unassigned, U.S. Virgin Islands, Wyoming, Minnesota, Mississippi, Indiana, Kentucky, Puerto Rico, Montana and South Dakota).
Based on applying the Democratic National Convention's 15% threshold rule
The following table shows the estimated votes of the delegates for the 2008 Democratic National Convention. The estimate is based only on the above polling data, after applying the DNC's 15% threshold rule. Superdelegates are not bound to the results of their states' primaries/caucuses and thus have all been assigned to "other/undecided". The 15% threshold rule is not strictly applied in this table. That is, in cases where one of the candidates receives close to 15% of the votes according to the poll, he is assigned here the proportionate number of delegates.
