Čaklov (until 1927 also "Čekľov" in Slovak; Csáklyó in Hungarian ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia . Administratively it belongs to the Okres Vranov nad Topľou within the Prešovský kraj . On December 31, 2011 there were 2480 inhabitants in the community.

The municipality is located on the right bank of the Topľa river at its confluence with the Zámutovský creek , in the northern foothills of the East Slovakian lowlands . Čaklov is only five kilometers from Vranov nad Topľou .

history

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1282 as Chaklomezeu and refers to the surrounding fields. Later the place belonged to the estate of Číčava and Vranov.
