Dlhé Klčovo (Slovak 1927-1948 "Kolčovské dlhé" - to 1927 "Klčové dlhé"; Hungarian Kolcsmező - until 1907 Kolcshosszúmező ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 1,393 (December 31, 2019), which in nad Okres Vranov Topľou , part of the Prešovský kraj and belongs to the traditional Zemplín landscape .

Municipal Office of Dlhé Klčovo

The municipality is located in the northern part of the Eastern Slovak Lowlands , between the Topľa rivers in the west and Ondava in the east. The municipality covers a total of 10.34 km² and is largely flat and covered by meadow landscape. The center of the village is at an altitude of 117  m nm and is eleven kilometers from Vranov nad Topľou .

Dlhé Klčovo is the lowest situated municipality in Prešovský kraj.

history

The municipality has been permanently inhabited since the 13th century and the place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1270 as Hussceumezeu (other sources only give it as Hozyvmezee in 1300 ). The village had a traditional agricultural character and belonged to local nobles. At that time the village was already equipped with a church, but the first evidence of a pastor does not come from the year 1331.

In 1787 there were 95 houses and 743 inhabitants, in 1828 142 houses and 1053 inhabitants.

According to the 2011 census, Dlhé Klčovo had 1,410 inhabitants, including 1,384 Slovaks, 3 Czechs and 1 Ukrainian. 22 residents gave no information. 964 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church, 381 residents the Greek Catholic Church, 19 residents the Evangelical Church, 4 residents the Orthodox Church, and 2 residents the Reformed Church. 14 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 26 residents has not been determined.

Culture and sport

In the village there is a folk ensemble called “Rovina”. The folk dance competition “Šaffova ostroha” takes place every year.

The local football club is called OcFK Dlhé Klčovo, whose A-team plays in the Slovak fourth division north. There is also a bodybuilding club in town.

Infrastructure

In Dlhé Klčovo there is a public water supply, gas pipelines, partly finished sewer system, which is connected to a sewage treatment plant. The village has a two-class kindergarten, a primary school and a library; the nearest post office is in the neighboring village of Sačurov . The village can be reached via a 3rd order road, connections to the 1st order roads are in Sačurov and Hencovce .
