Sečovská Polianka (Hungarian Szécsmező - until 1902 Szécspolyánka ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia .
The municipality is located on a small right tributary of the Topľa in the wide valley of Topľa and Ondava . To the west of the village rises the Slanské vrchy mountain range with the Strechový vrch (777 meters above sea level). The flat relief around Sečovská Polianka already belongs to the Eastern Slovak Lowlands . The towns of Vranov nad Topľou and Sečovce are each about ten kilometers from the municipality.
Sečovská Polianka is surrounded by the neighboring communities Sačurov in the north, Dlhé Klčovo in the northeast, Parchovany in the south, Stankovce in the southwest and Davidov in the northwest.
Sečovská Polianka is on trunk road 79, which leads from Vranov nad Topľou to the border crossing Slovenské Nové Mesto / Sátoraljaújhely and which is part of the transit route from south-east Poland to Hungary .
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1272.
Almost all of the Slovaks live in the Sečovská Polianka commune . 66% of the population profess the Roman Catholic Church . 32% are Greek Catholic Christians.
