Žalobín (Hungarian Újszomotor - 1888–1902 Zsalobina , 1873–1882 Zsalubina ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia .
The municipality of Žalobín is located at the confluence of the Oľka in the Ondava , only a few kilometers south of the Veáká -Domaša dam. The Ondavatal is about four kilometers wide and is flanked by the foothills of the Ondau mountainous region ( Ondavská vrchovina ). The next bigger cities are Vranov nad Topľou and Humenné .
Žalobín is surrounded by the neighboring communities Jasenovce in the north, Karná in the east, Ondavské Matiašovce in the south and Malá Domaša in the west.
Road 554 ( Havaj - Oborín ) runs through Žalobín . The connecting road to the neighboring municipality of Malá Domaša connects to trunk road 15 (other name: I / 15) from Svidník to Vranov nad Topľou, as a section of the transit route from southeast Poland to Hungary .
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1451.
The population of Žalobín consists of about 94% Slovaks , 5% are Roma . Almost 97% of the population profess the Roman Catholic Church .
