Nižný Hrušov (until 1927 Slovak and "Hrušovík" or "Hrušov"; Hungarian Alsókörtvélyes ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 1,499 (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Vranov nad Topľou , part of kraj Prešovský heard and is part of the traditional Zemplín landscape .
geography
The municipality is located in the northern part of the Eastern Slovak Lowlands on the left bank of the Ondava . The center of the village is at an altitude of 130 meters and is 13 kilometers by road from Vranov nad Topľou .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1246 as Kurthuelus . In 1828 there are 105 houses and 776 inhabitants who were employed in agriculture and fruit-making. In addition to these, part of the population commutes to surrounding cities today.
