Rudlov (until 1927 Slovak "Rudľov"; Hungarian Ércfalva - until 1907 Rudlyó ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 709 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which in Okres Vranov nad Topľou of, part kraj Prešovský lies.
geography
The municipality is located in the northwestern foothills of the Eastern Slovak Lowlands on the eastern slope of the Slanské vrchy . The stream Slaný potok flows through it, which flows into the Topľa in the neighboring town of Soort . The center of the village is at an altitude of 201 m nm and is 11 kilometers from Vranov nad Topľou .
Neighboring communities are Hlinné in the north, Soľ in the east, Zámutov in the south and west, and Hermanovce nad Topľou in the northwest.
history
Rudlov was first mentioned in writing in 1402 as part of the territory of the Čičava Castle . In 1493 only one farm out of 15 was settled in the village. In 1720 there were 18 households and a mill, as well as extensive forests and vineyards in the municipality. In 1787 there were 55 houses and 420 inhabitants, at that time the Forgách family owned the local estates . In the 18th century the inhabitants were known as scythe makers .
In 1831, after a cholera epidemic, the inhabitants took part in the East Slovak peasant uprising . There were several waves of emigration between 1880 and 1910.
Until 1918, the place in Semplin County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. After the creation of Czechoslovakia, the inhabitants were employed as forest workers and farmers.
population
According to the 2011 census, there were 665 residents in Rudlov, including 581 Slovaks , 67 Roma , two Czechs and one Magyar . Four residents did not give any information about their ethnicity .
496 residents supported the Greek Catholic Church, 141 residents the Roman Catholic Church and eight residents the Evangelical Church AB. One resident was non-denominational and three residents had no denomination.
