Nová Kelča is a municipality in eastern Slovakia .
The Nová Kelča municipality is located on the eastern bank of the Veľká Domaša reservoir . Its location on a ledge in the middle of the 14 km long reservoir made Nová Kelča a popular holiday resort, which is particularly popular with swimmers in summer. Mainly pensions and holiday homes are available to tourists, and there is also a campsite. Towards the northeast, the terrain rises to the Ondauer Uplands ( Ondavská vrchovina ). The next larger town is Stropkov , 16 kilometers north of Nová Kelča.
For the construction of the reservoir from 1962 to 1967, the villages of Dobrá nad Ondavou , Trepec , Valkov , Petejovce and Kelča ( Kelcse in Hungarian ) were completely or partially abandoned, the inhabitants of these places were relocated. So in 1966 the municipality of Nová Kelča was rebuilt approx. 30 meters above the water level of the dam, the name derives from the village that was submerged in the reservoir nearby.
Nová Kelča is surrounded by the neighboring communities Vyšný Hrabovec in the north, Ďapalovce in the east and Holčíkovce in the south.
Only the baroque-style Catholic church in the lost village of Kelča, built in 1780, still stands in its old place, below the lake level, with a semicircular dam to keep the church dry. In recent years the church building has deteriorated.
Road 15 (other name: I / 15) from Svidník to Vranov nad Topľou , a section of the transit route from south-eastern Poland to Hungary , runs along the eastern periphery of Nová Kelča .

Almost exclusively Slovaks live in Nová Kelča . 96% of the population profess to the Roman Catholic Church , 2% stated that their denomination was Greek Catholic .
