Kučín (Hungarian Alsóköcsény - until 1902 Kucsin ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia .
geography
The municipality of Kučín is located on the left bank of the Ondava River , which, together with its tributary Topľa, forms an almost ten kilometer wide valley and thus a north-western bulge of the eastern Slovak lowlands . The border with Košický kraj (Kosice Regional Association) runs directly to the east of the municipality . The towns of Vranov nad Topľou and Strážske are each nine kilometers from Kučín.
Kučín is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Kladzany in the north, Nižný Hrabovec in the east, and south and Hencovce in the west.

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1335.
Economy and Infrastructure
On the opposite side of the Ondava from Kučín, an industrial area extends over 2.5 km². This is where the Bukóza Holding, as company is located , a wood processing company which, in addition to various sawing products, produces cellulose and operates a power plant.
Road 554 ( Havaj - Oborín ) runs through the municipality of Kučín in a north-south direction . In the neighboring village of Nižný Hrabovec there is a connection to trunk road 18 from Prešov to Michalovce and the parallel railway line.

The population of Kučín consists of 86% Slovaks , 13% are Roma (figures from 2001). 84% of the population profess to the Roman Catholic Church , 6% said they were reformed and 5% said they were Greek Catholic .
