Hencovce (Hungarian Hencfalva - until 1907 Hencóc ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 1,340 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Vranov nad Topľou of, part Prešovský kraj belongs.
geography
The municipality is located in the northern part of the Eastern Slovak Lowlands on the right bank of the Ondava . The center of the village is at an altitude of 123 m nm and is five kilometers from Vranov nad Topľou .
history
Hencovce was first mentioned in writing in 1372. In 1828 there are 98 houses and 720 inhabitants.
1970–1996 the village was part of Vranov nad Topľou.

Infrastructure
Economically important industrial area south of the village, which was built in the 1950s, with a wood-processing factory (now Bukóza Holding as ) as well as textile factories Kali Agro and SLO.VI . Other residents commute to work in Vranov nad Topľou.
In Hencovce there is a kindergarten and a church elementary school (grades 1 to 4). The state roads I / 15 (Vranov nad Topľou – Stropkov) and I / 18 (Prešov – Michalovce) meet near the village . There is a stop on the Strážske – Prešov railway two kilometers south of the town center.
