1st Yugoslav Football League 1985/86

The 1st Yugoslav Football League 1986/87 was the 58th season of the highest Yugoslav league in men's football . It began on August 10, 1986 and ended on June 14, 1987.

The ten clubs Partizan Belgrade, Velež Mostar, Red Star Belgrade, HNK Rijeka, Dinamo Zagreb, Budućnost Titograd, Željezničar Sarajevo, Sutjeska Nikšić, Čelik Zenica and FK Sarajevo were each deducted six points due to the incidents in the previous season. This association decision was withdrawn after several court hearings and judgments on July 29, 1987, so that the original master Vardar Skopje (according to the table with point deduction) was replaced by FK Partizan Belgrade (according to the table without point deduction).

Vardar Skopje nevertheless took part in the European Cup because the draw had already taken place. It was also decided that instead of FK Sarajevo, NK Dinamo Vinkovci had to relegate.

mode

18 teams played against each other twice on a total of 34 match days, divided into a first and a second half. The last two clubs were relegated.
