The 1st Yugoslav Football League 1990/91 was the 62nd season of the highest Yugoslav division in men's football . It began on August 4, 1990 and ended on June 16, 1991.

Defending champion FK Red Star Belgrade became Yugoslav champions for the 18th time.

The originally relegated clubs FK Budućnost Titograd , FK Sloboda Tuzla and FK Spartak Subotica remained in the first division, as the Croatian and Slovenian clubs withdrew after the independence of their republics.

The 19 teams played against each other twice, divided into a first half and a second half. Tied games were decided by penalty shootouts, with the winner receiving one point and the loser not receiving a point.
