The 1st Yugoslav Football League in 1988/89 was the 60th season of the highest Yugoslav division in men's football . It began on August 6, 1988 and ended on June 4, 1989.
The FK Vojvodina was Yugoslav champion for the second time.

1 Hajduk Split was banned from European Cup competitions for two years because of spectator riots during the second leg of the 1987/88 European Cup Winners' Cup against Olympique Marseille .
