The A1 Team France ( English stylization: A1Team.France ) was the French national team in the A1GP series. It won the title in the 2005/2006 season .

history

A1 Team France was founded by Jean Paul Driot , whose racing team DAMS has been equipping the team since the beginning (under the name "Connor Racing" since the fourth season).

In the first season , the French were the dominant team. After a second place by Alexandre Prémat in the sprint race at Brands Hatch , it was able to clinch its first double victory with Nicolas Lapierre at the wheel at the second race weekend at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz . This was followed in the season by four more double victories (in Estoril , Sepang and Monterrey by Prémat, in Eastern Creek Raceway by Lapierre) as well as three individual victories (in Dubai and Sentul by Lapierre, in Durban by Prémat) and another second place (by Lapierre in Laguna Seca ). After the penultimate race weekend in Laguna Seca, the French were already established as world champions, with a total of 172 points.

In the following season , the team could not build on the successes from the previous season. A total of eight podium finishes were achieved (four third places by Nicolas Lapierre, three second places and one third place by Loïc Duval ), but the team was unable to win. It ended the season in fourth place overall with 67 points.

In the third season , the team was on a similar level. With Loïc Duval at the wheel, it achieved a total of seven podium finishes, including a sprint victory at Eastern Creek - the first in almost two years. In Durban, the team made a novelty by fielding three drivers at the weekend: Nicolas Prost (rookie practice), Jonathan Cochet (second practice) and Duval (third practice, qualifying and race). It ended the season again in fourth overall position with 118 points.

In the fourth season , the team was able to build on its previous level of performance. After Duval achieved third place in the sprint and victory in the main race at the start in Zandvoort, another podium result followed with a second place in the Sepang sprint. With a total of five more points, the team finished the season fifth overall with 47 points.

A1 Team France took part in all 39 race weekends of the A1GP series.

driver

A1 Team France fielded seven different drivers on race weekends, all of whom also took part in the races themselves. In addition, Guillaume Moreau was used in the second official test at Silverstone 2007 .

In the list of the most individual victories, Alexandre Prémat is in third place with seven (four in sprint races, three in main races) behind Neel Jani and Nico Hülkenberg .
