Szklarnia ( German Adamsverdruß ) is a small place in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Świętajno (rural community Schwentainen , 1938 to 1945 Altkirchen (Eastern Pr.) ) In the powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ).
Geographical location
Szklarnia is located in the southern center of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship , 25 kilometers east of the district town of Szczytno ( Ortelsburg in German ).
history
In 1801 the Puppensche Glashütte - probably the only glassworks in Masuria - was founded. It was built against the will of the domain administrator Adam in Friedrichsfelde ( Chochół in Polish ), which then led to the place name "Adamsverdruß". The initiator of the glassworks construction was Baron Ernst Philipp Ludwig Freiherr von Huenefeld (1769–1842), who is still remembered today by a cast-iron grave cross in the old Protestant cemetery in Szklarnia.
In its heyday, the glassworks employed up to 200 people. It existed until 1871.
In the following years, a forestry department was established in Adamsverdruß , which was assigned to the state forest of Puppen ( Spychowo in Polish ). Adamsverdruß then belonged to the Puppen community in the East Prussian district of Ortelsburg as a living space until 1945 .
When all of southern East Prussia was surrendered to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war , Adam's displeasure was also affected. The small place received the Polish name form "Szklarnia" and is a forest settlement (Polish Osada leśna ) a place in the network of Gmina Świętajno (Schwentainen , 1938 to 1945 Altkirchen (Eastern Pr.) ) In the powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ), until 1998 the voivodeship Olsztyn , since then part of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

Adam's frustration was in the Evangelical Church Friedrichshof until 1898 , then until 1945 in the church Puppen in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union , until 1945 also in the Roman Catholic Church Ortelsburg in the then diocese of Warmia . Today, on the Catholic side, Szklarnia belongs to the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Spychowo in the current Archdiocese of Warmia , and on the Protestant side to the parish in Szczytno in the Diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Szklarnia is located on the busy national road 59 , which runs in a north-south direction through the southern Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and connects the regions of Giżycko (Lötzen) , Mrągowo (Sensburg) and Szczytno (Ortelsburg) . A country road leads from the neighboring forest settlement Niedźwiedzi Kąt (Bear's Corner ) directly to Szklarnia.
From 1915 to 1962 Adams disaffection resp. Szklarnia a train station at the Puppen – Friedrichshof – Myszyniec , which was originally used by the Ortelsburger Kleinbahn , but is now out of service. The next train station is now Spychowo on the Olsztyn – Ełk ( German Allenstein – Lyck ) line.
