The Ahrenviöler Südermoor is a nature reserve in the Schleswig-Holstein municipality of Ahrenviöl in the district of North Friesland
The 7 hectare nature reserve is registered under number 82 in the directory of nature reserves of the Ministry for Energy Transition, Agriculture, Environment, Nature and Digitization . It was expelled in 1972 (date of regulation: December 2, 1972). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of North Friesland.
The nature reserve is located northeast of Husum between Wester-Ohrstedt and Ahrenviöl . It places a raised bog area under protection, in which peat was extracted until the 1960s . Partial areas are rewetted . The moor areas are partially forested. Other areas of the protected area are kept free of woody plants so that typical bog vegetation such as peat moss , cotton grass , rosemary heather , hailstones and others can settle and spread again. The nature reserve is home to occurrences of the king fern . The moor drains to the Imme, a tributary of the Arlau . The Imme flows south past the nature reserve.
A hiking trail runs through the nature reserve , from which the area can be experienced.
The nature reserve, which is surrounded by agricultural land , is looked after by the Association for Nature Conservation and Landscape Management Central North Friesland.
