Andreas Ernst Köhn von Jaski (born September 15, 1768 in Klein Perlin near Lauenburg in Pomerania , † March 17, 1846 in Königsberg ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and governor of the Königsberg fortress .

Life

origin

Andreas was the son of Franz Ernst Köhn von Jaski and his wife Eva Jakobine, née von Schlochow. His father was a border customs officer and second lieutenant a. D. , most recently in the "von Itzenplitz" infantry regiment . His brother Karl Friedrich also became a Prussian lieutenant general.

Military career

From May 1777, Köhn was first educated in the cadet houses in Stolp and Berlin . On May 21, 1787 he was transferred as a second lieutenant to the grenadier battalion of the "von Bose" garrison regiment of the Prussian army . Just a few days later, on June 1st, he was transferred to the “von Thile” fusilier battalion. Here he took the opportunity to visit the Ecole Militaire in Königsberg for four years. In 1794 Köhn was involved in the campaign in Poland in the battles of Zegrze and the Narew and was used during this time for various general staff services at corps level. Then he was used in the military survey of New East Prussia . On September 12, 1797 Köhn was promoted to prime lieutenant in the fusilier battalion "von Yorck" and then worked in the fusilier battalion "von Schachtmeyer" of the 2nd East Prussian Fusilier Brigade. On December 29, 1800, Köhn was promoted to staff captain in the fusilier battalion “von Stutterheim”. On the recommendation of his commander, he was appointed inspection adjutant at the West Prussian inspection of the infantry under Major General Wilhelm Christian von Larisch on October 12, 1802 . In this position he was promoted to captain on January 5, 1805 . Under Larisch, Köhn fought in the 1806 campaign near Halle (Saale) and Lübeck . After Ratekau's surrender , Köhn was a prisoner of war, was released after the Peace of Tilsit and, from February 5, 1808, paid half his salary . It was not until December 26, 1808 that he was employed as an adjutant in the brigade of General Ludwig August von Stutterheim , where he was promoted to major in March 1809 . On February 12, 1810, on the recommendation of Scharnhorst , he was transferred to the Second Division of the General War Department . Here Köhn was entrusted with the processing of infantry matters.

On August 19, 1811, Köhn was appointed Second Commandant of Graudenz and, while remaining in this command, on February 10, 1812, he was appointed as a substitute for the 4th East Prussian Infantry Regiment No. 5 . In 1813 he returned to the Adjutantur and on April 11 became First Adjutant of Lieutenant General Friedrich von Massenbach at the military command between Memel and Vistula . After Köhn had been awarded the Order of St. Anna II. Class on June 7, 1813 , he joined the 3rd Brigade in the 3rd Brigade on July 22, 1813 as a general staff officer. At the end of March 1831 he was promoted to lieutenant general and was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle First Class with Oak Leaves on January 18, 1834 in recognition of his long service . His last post was from March 30, 1835 until his death that of the governor of Königsberg. In September 1840 he received Friedrich Wilhelm IV and Elisabeth Ludovika of Bavaria , who came to Koenigsberg to pay homage to the estates in the Grand Duchy of Posen .

The Philosophical Faculty of the Albertus University awarded Köhn an honorary doctorate on August 30, 1844 .
