History of biology and medicine

Geus is particularly committed to establishing the history of biology as an object of research. In 1976 he founded the Basilisken-Presse , a specialist publisher for the history of science and, in particular, the history of biology , which in the early years published bibliophile facsimile editions of historical scientific works, in some cases also of cultural-historical works. In 1991 the German Society for the History and Theory of Biology was founded , from which the Biohistoricum emerged in 1998 , a biology museum with an attached research archive, which is the only institution of its kind in Germany. Geus procured 12,000 volumes of specialist literature and 130,000 offprints for the museum, donated by institutes or archives of life science societies.

Geus published on the history of the natural sciences, especially biology and medicine. In his book Evolution through Cooperation and Integration , published jointly with Ekkehard Höxtermann in 2007 , according to the taz editor Helmut Höge , he presents a "stimulating counter-model to Darwin's evolutionary model ", at the center of which is the Russian anarchist Peter Kropotkin as a Darwin critic.

Social criticism

Since the late 1990s, Geus has been publishing writings on current social debates and time-critical essays in his publisher Basilisken-Presse , sometimes under the pseudonym Johann Georg Mausinger ( anagram from Armin Geus) . In a reception in the journal Enlightenment and Criticism in 2011, these editions were ascribed "a strong enlightenment impetus". The first publication in this series is the satire Neues aus der Karmaforschung from 1998, in which the reincarnation ideas of the esoteric Rudolf Steiner are illustrated as delusions with a fictitious find history .

Yeshua appeared in 2002 . The daughter of God , which according to the reviewer Helmut Walther provides useful factual knowledge on parthenogenesis , circumcision and adrenogenital syndrome as a reading pleasure . According to this, genetic testing has shown that the relic of the Holy Foreskin, which disappeared in the church of Calcata in 1983, came from a woman. Thus, Jesus Christ would be “the daughter of the Virgin Mary who was begotten parthenogenetically with the help of the Holy Spirit by God the Father”, but who was circumcised as a supposed boy because of a congenital adrenogenital syndrome. The thesis of feminist theology “the feminine nature of God” could accordingly be based on verifiable evidence. In the same series, the volume The Harem of the Prophet appeared in 2004 , in which Geus constructed a connection between the love life of Muhammad and individual suras of the Koran .

In 2006 Geus, who, according to Spiegel, “deals intensively with the background of biodynamics”, took part in the protest against the state of Hesse taking over an existing endowed professorship for biodynamic agriculture at the University of Kassel in Witzenhausen; Geus referred to biodynamic agriculture as "a product of anthroposophical spinning".

Publications on Islam

In his Basilisk-Presse in 2008 Geus published the collection of articles Against the Cowardly Neutrality: Contributions to the Critique of Islam , which received attention in right-wing blogs and newspapers such as Politically Incorrect and the Preussische Allgemeine Zeitung as well as in the journal Enlightenment and Criticism and the Humanist Press Service .

In 2011 Geus also published the book The Illness of the Prophet in his own publishing house . A pathographic essay . It says: "The Koran and Hadith contain numerous indications that Mohammed had been ill with paranoid-hallucinatory schizophrenia with defined delusions and characteristic hallucinations since the first revelation ". Geus, who is not a professional psychologist or psychiatrist himself , relies on his own interpretation of these texts and specialist literature (approx. 600 titles) from all relevant disciplines.

The book was in June 2011 to that of SZ , NDR established inter alia list of non-fiction books of the month of the online magazine Telepolis and was in the right newspaper Junge Freiheit , Prussian Allgemeine Zeitung , Blue Narcissus and the Humanist press service of the Giordano Bruno Foundation ( gbs) reviewed. The journalist Harald Martenstein recommended the essay in his satirical column in Die Zeit , but countered Geus by saying that he, Martenstein, had taken a sentence from the Koran that "speaks more of a pathological hatred [of the prophet] for camels".
