The Okres Bruntál (German District Freudenthal ) is a regional authority in Moravskoslezský kraj in the Czech Republic .
history
The district is located in the north-east of Moravskoslezský kraj, for the most part in Moravian Silesia and includes the southern Jeseníky Mountains and the Lower Jeseníky Mountains .
At the beginning of 1996 the city of Zlaté Hory was assigned to the Okres Jeseník . On January 1, 2005, the places Huzová , Moravský Beroun and Norberčany were spun off in the Okres Olomouc . On January 1, 2007, the municipality Sosnová moved to the Okres Opava .
The district office was dissolved on December 31, 2002.
In Okres Bruntál there are 92,018 people (as of January 1, 2019) in 67 communities ( Obec ). With 1536 km² it is the largest district in the district, in which the forests represent the largest economic factor.
The Bruntal region ( Bruntálsko ) was a mining area in the past , today industry plays the most important role with a share of almost 50 percent of the workforce. In addition to mechanical engineering, the textile industry and wood processing also play an important role. However, unemployment is among the highest in the republic.
