Birkenhof (colloquially: Birg ə hṹf ) is a district of the community Neuendettelsau in the district of Ansbach in Middle Franconia ( Bavaria ).
geography
Southwest of the hamlet is the Geichsenbuck ( 440 m above sea level ). The Watzendorfer Bach, a right tributary of the Aurach , rises 0.7 km south. A community road leads to Neuendettelsau to the district road AN 14 (1 km southwest) or the state road 2410 crossing to Geichsenhof (1 km northwest).
history
The farm was probably only founded after 1608, as it is not mentioned in the so-called 16-point report of the Windsbach Office (1608), in which every place in this area is described. Such a farm is also not recorded on a map from 1617; there is only one forest or meadow area called "Birckig". There is clear evidence of the hamlet with the name "Birkach", then "Birkachhof", and finally "Birkenhof" only since 1703. The defining word of the place name is the birch . As the Birckig corridor area makes clear, there was a birch forest there at that time.
In 1793 the Prussian administration assigned Birkenhof to the community of Neuendettelsau. When the house numbers were assigned, the two half courtyards were given the numbers 76 and 77. The two properties both had the Brandenburg-Ansbach monastery administrator's office in Heilsbronn as landlord . The high court was exercised by the caste and municipal bailiff's office in Windsbach . From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the Justice and Chamber Office Windsbach . The number of properties remained unchanged.
As part of the municipal edict, Birkenhof was assigned to the Aich tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Aich, founded in 1810 . In the course of the regional reform this was incorporated into Neuendettelsau on January 1, 1972.

Remarks
- The distance information corresponds to the beeline between the respective geographic objects. They do not give the route .
- A detailed list of the responsible judicial and administrative authorities can be found in the article of the (former) municipality responsible for the district.
- The guidelines of the statistical surveys were changed several times during the period shown, which is why the information on population development - number of inhabitants and number of houses - does not count the same depending on the point in time. For more information, see the official regional directories for Bavaria .
