Brandon is a city in southwest Manitoba , Canada . It is right on the banks of the winding Assiniboine River in Manitoba. Brandon, Manitoba's second largest city, was founded by General Thomas Rosser, who saw it as the hub of the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1881 . Even today, agriculture and the processing of its products is predominant in this fertile region, which is why Brandon was nicknamed the "wheat town".
