history
In the municipality of Brestovec, an old Hungarian and a Slavic grave from the 10th and 11th centuries were found.
The current place was first mentioned in writing in 1327. In 1360 the village came under the administration of so-called predialists, who were subordinate to the Archdiocese of Gran and operated an administrative system independent of the county. During the time of the Turkish wars, Szilas was not subject to tribute, but it was plundered several times. Between the 16th and 19th centuries the village was owned by the Bajcsy , Pázmány , Kálmán , Dancsy , Amade and others families . In 1787 the village had 38 houses and 342 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 52 houses and 309 inhabitants. In the 19th century a large oil press worked in the village.
Until 1918/1919 the place in Komorn County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. As a result of the First Vienna Arbitration Award , it was once again part of Hungary between 1938 and 1945.
The Danube flood in 1965 caused considerable damage in Brestovec. At the time of communist Czechoslovakia, the population worked mainly in agricultural enterprises, but also in industrial plants in Veľký Meder, Komárno and Bratislava .
