Šrobárová (Hungarian Szilasháza or older Srobárfalva ) is a municipality in southwest Slovakia with 514 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It is located in Okres Komárno , part of the Nitriansky kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the Slovakian Danube lowlands , on the southern edge of the Pohronská pahorkatina , about seven kilometers (as the crow flies) north of the Danube . The municipal area extends from the slightly hilly landscape north of the village to the woodless and agricultural plains south of it. The center of the village is at an altitude of 122 m nm and is 17 kilometers from Hurbanovo and 20 kilometers from Komárno .
Neighboring municipalities are Mudroňovo in the north, Modrany in the east and Marcelová in the south and west.
history
The place was founded in 1921 after a land reform around the old Szilos farm by settlers from northern and central Slovakia (but mostly from the regions of Kysuce and Orava ) and Moravia ( Uherské Hradiště area ). At that time it was part of the municipality of Krátke Kesy (now part of Marcelová ). The actual community was established in 1926 from parts of the former communities of Krátke Kesy, Marcelová and Modrany and was named in honor of the Slovak politician Vavro Šrobár .
As a result of the First Vienna Arbitration Award, Šrobárová was part of Hungary between 1938 and 1945. In 1941 the Slovak settlers were expelled by the Hungarian government, but returned to Czechoslovakia in 1945 after the end of the Second World War and reintegration .
population
According to the 2011 census, Šrobárová had 500 inhabitants, including 466 Slovaks and 20 Magyars , three Ukrainians and one Russian and one Czech . One resident indicated another ethnic group and eight residents gave no information about the ethnic group .
401 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 18 residents to the Reformed Church, 14 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, 6 residents each to the Baptists and the Greek Catholic Church, 2 residents each to the Jehovah's Witnesses, the Jewish community and the Orthodox Church and one resident to the apostolic church; 3 residents professed a different denomination. 28 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 17 residents was not determined.
