After a land reform in the 1920s, Slovak settlers mainly from north-west and north Slovakia (a total of 72 families) settled in the Meierhöfe, which at that time belonged to Count Kálnoky . The so-populated area was divided in 1926 by the municipalities and Bodza Tôň and was as a church in honor of Milan Hodža , who then held the post of Minister of Agriculture, Hodžovo called.

As a result of the First Vienna Arbitration Award , the community was part of Hungary between 1938 and 1945 and was called Hodzsafalva there. The Slovak residents who were expelled in 1938 were not allowed to return until 1945, after they were reintegrated into Czechoslovakia.

The community has had its current name since 1951. The Danube flood in 1965 caused great damage in Lipové.
