The municipality was settled in prehistoric times, remains of a settlement of the linear ceramic culture have been preserved from the Neolithic Age.

The place was first mentioned in writing as Korwa in 1245 , when the previous owner Péter Köbölkúti sold his estate to Master Miklós , the royal messenger. In 1300 the village was devastated by the troops of Matthäus Csák . In the Middle Ages, Karva was owned by various noble families. In 1529, shortly after the Battle of Mohács , there was another setback when the village was destroyed by the Ottoman troops and then stood near the border with the Ottoman Empire. Only after the Ottomans were defeated after 1683 and the Kuruc uprisings came to an end, Karva could be permanently rebuilt. In 1711 11 households lived in the village. In 1828 there were 49 houses and 417 residents who were employed as farmers and winemakers. There were also several watermills working on the Danube, which were only closed after the Second World War.

Until 1918/1919, the place in Gran County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. In 1935, the residents built their own culture center. As a result of the First Vienna Arbitration Award , it was once again part of Hungary between 1938 and 1945.
