Brothers in Arms (English for: " Brothers in Arms ") is the fifth studio album by the British rock band Dire Straits . Released in 1985, the album was the most successful of the group and sold over 30 million copies, making it one of the thirty best-selling albums in music history. As one of the first digital album productions, it also played a major role in establishing the compact disc medium .
production
The album was designed as one of the first productions for publication on CD and recorded completely digitally (DDD). The CD version, which is almost 10 minutes longer, does not contain a bonus track, as was often the case back then to justify the significantly higher price of the CD compared to a vinyl LP. Instead, several songs are significantly longer than the corresponding LP versions (including Your Latest Trick and Why Worry ). Brothers in Arms is considered to be the first album in CD form to have such an advantage over the record version.
