The Enclave with the internal designation C1YB is manufactured in the United States for the North American market. Compared to the version produced in China with the internal designation C1UB, the C1YB is longer and has a stronger drive train.
presentation
The Buick Enclave was first unveiled on April 11, 2017 at an event at Pier 59 Studios in Borough Manhattan , New York City . The first formal, public presentation was at NYIAS 2017.
technology
Body and interior configuration
The vehicle is based on the GM C1XX platform with a long wheelbase, which GM also uses for the second-generation Chevrolet traverse . Both have been built together at GM's Lansing plant in the US state of Michigan since 2017 . The enclave is 5189 mm long, 2002 mm wide and 1775 mm high. It has seven seats: two in the front row, two in the middle and three in the back row. The luggage compartment volume is between 688 liters with full seating and 2764 liters when both rows of seats in the passenger compartment are folded down. The tank holds 73 liters with front-wheel drive and 82 liters with all-wheel drive.
Engines
Only offered engine is a six-cylinder engine in V-type (Engine Code: LFY), with a maximum net power of 231 kW at 6800 min -1 and a maximum torque of 353 Nm at 2800 min -1 . It is a front cross- built gasoline engine . The displacement is 3649 cm³ ( bore 95 mm, stroke 85.8 mm). The pistons are sprayed with oil from below for cooling. The cylinder blocks and heads are cast from aluminum. The engine has four valves per cylinder, which are controlled by two overhead camshafts per cylinder bank ( DOHC valve control ). A stepless, variable camshaft adjustment with phase adjustment is used to adjust the timing . The mixture is prepared by direct injection . The engine is designed for E85 operation. With the start-stop system , the engine can be switched off automatically if the vehicle is idle due to traffic.
drive
For power transmission , the engine of the Buick Enclave is connected to a nine-speed converter automatic transmission of the type "GM Hydramatic 9T65". All equipment variants are available with front-wheel drive , all-wheel drive cannot be ordered in conjunction with the lowest equipment level "Enclave". For the highest equipment variants, the all-wheel drive is equipped with an electronic differential lock "Active Twin Clutch" from the supplier GKN for torque distribution (torque vectoring). The final drive ratio is 3.49: 1. The spread of the gear has a value of 7.6. The transmission is made up of five planetary gear sets , four fixed- position coupling units and three co-rotating coupling units ( Lepelletier transmission ). A friction clutch is used as the converter lock-up clutch. A pressure accumulator for the transmission hydraulics is to be installed in the transmission, which stores the energy for starting the start / stop system.
environment
The fuel consumption determined according to EPA guidelines for models with front-wheel drive is between 13.1 l / 100 km in urban areas and 9.0 l / 100 km outside the city, with all-wheel drive between 13.8 l / 100 km in urban areas and 9.4 l / 100 km out of town.
landing gear
MacPherson struts are installed on the front axle , the wishbones of which are mounted with hydraulically damping bushes. Five-link independent suspensions with auxiliary springs are used for the rear suspension. Stabilizers are installed on both axles to reduce the tendency to roll . Adaptive damping is used in the highest equipment line “Avenir” . The steering has electrical power assistance with active steering reset to the central position.
Braking system and wheels
Disc brakes are installed all around . The braking system is servo-assisted. The parking brake has an electronic control. The standard wheels have a diameter of 18 "or 20" (with "Avenir").
Furnishing
Buick offers the Enclave in four trim levels: "Enclave", "Essence", "Premium" and "Avenir".
Exterior fittings
Ten exterior colors and three wheel designs are available for the Enclave. The front headlights, like the rear lights, are arranged horizontally. Under the radiator grille, through which a chrome strip runs and in which the brand logo is attached, there is a possibility of attaching the license plate. There are also three air inlets above the lower edge of the bumper. There are (indicated) air outlets in the fenders. The chrome edging of these outlets is continued in the front doors. The exterior mirrors are mounted on bars below the window line. A convex sheet metal arch extends from the bonnet to the rear side panels. The fuel filler flap is in the left rear side panel. The tailgate, on which the rear license plate can be attached, has a curved disc with a semicircular lower edge and an indentation for the brand logo. A panel in the D-pillar creates a transition between the rear window, spoiler lip and rear side window. A chrome strip is mounted between the taillights. Horizontal reflectors are integrated in the rear bumper above the exhaust trims.
Interior
All Enclaves have a multifunction steering wheel. In the instrument cluster, among other things, the engine speed is represented in an analogue manner by a pointer instrument. In the middle of the instrument cluster, an integrated, multicolored 4.2-inch LC display (8-inch for the “Avenir”) is installed as a display for changeable content . The selector lever is in the form of a joystick and is electrically connected to the transmission ( shift-by-wire ). Fabric seats are installed in the basic model, and partial leather seats in the equipment variants above.
Infotainment equipment
In the middle of the dashboard, an 8-inch touchscreen is integrated to control the infotainment system. Smartphone integration is possible with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay . A WLAN router with the option of an LTE connection to the cellular network is built into the vehicle .
Safety equipment
Active security
ABS , ESP , electronic brake force distribution , the GM OnStar system, LED headlights and the reversing camera, which has been mandatory in the USA since May 2018, are standard in all equipment . Some of the more expensive equipment variants also have a lane departure warning assistant, a lane change assistant, a lane departure warning, an adaptive cruise control , an environment monitoring system for what is happening in front of the vehicle and an all-round vision system with cameras.
Passive safety
Seven airbags are installed in the vehicle (front, side and head airbags). In the US NCAP crash test carried out by the US federal agency NHTSA , it achieved five stars overall.
