Bystričany (German Bistrizin , Hungarian Besztercsény - until 1907 Bisztricsény ) is a village and municipality in Okres Prievidza in the Trenčín region in western Slovakia .

history

The first written mention of the place was in 1388. In 1921 Anton Neuwirth was born here. In 1924 the villages Chalmová and Vieska were incorporated, which are still part of the municipality today.

geography

The community lies at an altitude of about 260 meters and covers an area of ​​37,607 km², below the Vogelgebirge . The Chalmová part of the municipality lies directly on the Nitra River . The number of inhabitants is 1820 (as of 2009).
