Chrenovec-Brusno is a municipality in the west-center of Slovakia with 1380 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to the Okres Prievidza , part of the Trenčiansky kraj .
geography
The village is located in the foothills of the Hornonitrianska kotlina basin on the Handlovka river , between the Vtáčnik and Žiar mountains . The town center is at an altitude of 360 m nm and is eight kilometers from Handlová and nine kilometers from Prievidza .
history
The community was created in 1960 through the merger of the places Chrenovec (Hungarian Nyitratormás - until 1907 Chrenóc ) and Brusno, but was initially only called Chrenovec, since Brusno was only one district. It was not given its current name until 1993, after it was officially converted into a double parish. 1976-1990 the neighboring Lipník was part of the municipality.
Chrenovec was first mentioned in writing in 1243 as Hyrenouch , Brusno in 1430 as Brus . Both belonged to the Dobák family until 1243 , after which they belonged to the Weinitz Castle estate .
In 1828 there were 27 houses and 186 inhabitants in Chrenovec, 33 houses and 232 inhabitants in Brusno.

According to the 2011 census, Chrenovec-Brusno had 1,383 residents, including 1,335 Slovaks, five Czechs, three Germans, three Magyars and three Poles; one resident was of a different ethnicity. 33 residents gave no answer. 1,015 residents confessed to the Roman Catholic Church, nine residents each to the Evangelical Church AB and the Evangelical Church, two residents to the Greek Catholic Church and one resident each to the Orthodox Church, the Reformed Church and the Jehovah's Witnesses; three residents were of other denominations. 233 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 109 residents has not been determined.
