Cameron County is a county in the state of Pennsylvania in the United States . At the 2000 census , the county had 5,974 people and a population density of 6 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Emporium .

history

The county was formed on March 29, 1860 and named after Senator Simon Cameron (1799-1889).

Cameron County covers an area of 1,032 square kilometers, of which 4 square kilometers are water. It is bordered to the northwest by McKean County , to the northeast by Potter County , to the east by Clinton County , to the south by Clearfield County, and to the west by Elk County .
