Carlos Mendes (singer)
Carlos Eduardo Teixeira Mendes (born May 23, 1947 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese singer and actor .
In 1963 he was a co-founder of the beat band Sheiks . He left the group in 1967 to start a solo career. After winning the preselection at the Festival da Canção , he was allowed to compete twice in the Eurovision Song Contest : In the 1968 competition he came eleventh with the Schlager Verão , in the 1972 competition he reached seventh place with A festa da vida .
Together with Fernando Tordo and Paulo de Carvalho , he founded the independent record company Toma Lá Disco in 1975 .
In the 2000s he became active as an actor in addition to his music and was featured in several Portuguese television series.
