Charles P. Murphy

Charles P. Murphy (born January 13, 1882 in Leadville , Colorado , †  December 25, 1953 in Spicer , Colorado) was an American politician . In 1950 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Colorado.

Career

Nothing is known about Charles Murphy's youth and schooling. There is also no information about his professional career outside of politics. He joined the Republican Party and was elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in 1928 . Between 1936 and 1950 he was a member of the State Senate .

When Governor William Lee Knous resigned on April 15, 1950 to serve as a judge, his Lieutenant Governor Walter Walford Johnson had to take over the office of governor. This in turn freed his post. Charles Murphy was elected to this office and held it until the end of the term. After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor, he no longer appeared politically. He died on December 25, 1953 in the hamlet of Spicer, Jackson County .
