Jane E. Norton

Jane Ellen Norton (born October 12, 1954 in Grand Junction , Colorado ) is an American politician . Between 2003 and 2007 she was lieutenant governor of the state of Colorado.

Career

Jane Ellen Bergmann, her maiden name, studied health sciences at Colorado State University until 1976 . She also studied administration at Regis University in Denver . She then worked for some time as a teacher at a middle school in Fort Lupton . Politically, she joined the Republican Party . Under Presidents Ronald Reagan and George Bush , she was a director of the US Department of Health's regional branch in Colorado. Between 1986 and 1987 she was a member of the Colorado House of Representatives for a few months , where she ended a current term for a member who had resigned from this body. Between 1999 and 2002 she was employed as an Executive Director at the Ministry of Health in her state, where she was given various important tasks.

In 2003, Norton was elected lieutenant governor of the state of Colorado alongside Bill Owens . She held this office between 2003 and 2007. She was Deputy Governor . She was also a member of various health committees. In 2010 she ran in the primary of her party for the US Senate elections and finished second behind Ken Buck .

Jane Norton is married with two grown children.
