Robert Lee Knous

Robert Lee Knous (born November 1, 1917 in Ouray , Colorado , †  May 15, 2000 ) was an American politician . Between 1959 and 1967 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Colorado.

Career

Robert Knous was the son of the former governor of Colorado, William Lee Knous (1889-1959). Nothing is known about his youth and school education. During World War II he served in the United States Navy . He then embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1953 and 1957 he was a member of the Colorado Senate .

In 1958, Knous was elected lieutenant governor of the state of Colorado alongside Stephen McNichols . He held this office between 1959 and 1967. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. Since 1963 he was after the departure of McNichol's deputy from his Republican successor John Arthur Love . In 1966 Knous applied for the office of governor, but was defeated by incumbent Love with 44:54 percent of the vote. He then worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs . He died on May 15, 2000.
