Barbara O'Brien (born April 18, 1950 in Brawley , California ) is an American politician . She was Lieutenant Governor of the state of Colorado from 2007 to 2011 .

Career

Barbara O'Brien studied English at Columbia University in New York City . She later held a number of senior administrative positions at the University of Colorado in Denver . Politically, she joined the Democratic Party .

In 2006, O'Brien was on the side of Bill Ritter to Vice Governor selected the State of Colorado. She held this office between 2007 and 2011. In 2011, both Ritter and O'Brien waived another candidacy. Barbara O'Brien has been a school councilor for the city of Denver since November 5, 2013. She has the supervision of all public schools in this city.
