George Stephan
George Stephan (born March 30, 1862 in Cleveland , Ohio , † September 9, 1944 in La Jolla , California ) was an American politician . Between 1919 and 1921 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Colorado .
Career
Nothing is known about George Stephan's youth and schooling. He must have studied law because he later worked as a lawyer. He came to Colorado at an unknown time. Politically, he joined the Republican Party .
In 1918, Stephan was elected Lieutenant Governor of the State of Colorado alongside Oliver Henry Shoup . He held this office between 1919 and 1921. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . Between 1924 and 1929 he was a federal attorney for the state of Colorado. He died in La Jolla on September 9, 1944.
