Peter W. Breene

Peter W. Breene (born August 1846 in Kilkenny , Ireland , †  December 24, 1926 in Leadville , Colorado ) was an American politician . Between 1885 and 1887 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Colorado.

Career

Nothing is known about Peter Breene's youth and school education. He first came from his Irish homeland to the state of Indiana , where he worked in the mining industry. In 1877 he moved to Leadville, Colorado, where he also worked in the mining industry and got rich in the process. He became a leading figure in the local mining industry. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . Between 1883 and 1885 he was a member of the Colorado House of Representatives .

In 1884, Breene was elected lieutenant governor of Colorado alongside Benjamin Harrison Eaton . He held this office between 1885 and 1887. He was not only Deputy Governor , but also Chairman of the State Senate . In 1887 and 1888 he was State Treasurer as his state's Treasury Secretary. After that, he no longer appeared politically. Peter Breene died in Leadville on December 24, 1926.
