William Eugene Higby

William Eugene Higby (born January 26, 1884 in Garden Grove , Decatur County , Iowa , †  1967 in Monument , Colorado ) was an American politician . Between 1943 and 1947 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Colorado.

Career

Nothing is known about William Higby's youth and schooling. There is also no information in the sources about his professional career beyond politics. He came to Colorado, where he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1933 and 1940 he sat in the Colorado House of Representatives . Since 1939 he was its chairman. He was then a member of the State Senate from 1941 to 1943 .

In 1942, Higby was elected lieutenant governor of the state of Colorado alongside John Charles Vivian . He held this office between 1943 and 1947. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. In June 1948 he took part as a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Philadelphia . William Higby died in Monument in 1967 and was buried in Colorado Springs .
